Pfing Ex Cup
Above, the 2025-2026 Winner of the Cup Race, Bob Halback, accepts the trophy from last year's winner, Jessie Johson, along with the cup's namesake, Henry Pfingstag.
Like another similar sounding points race run by the PGA, the Pfing Ex Cup is a year long race toward a total points championship for the Edgewater Golf Group.
Our season begins after the Sea Island tournament weekend, which is usually the first weekend in May, held at St. Simons Island. The Sea Island Tournament is a two day affair that ends in a winner receiving the Mike Smith Trophy.
The Race to the Pfing Ex Cup, named after the host of the Sea Island weekend Henry Pfingstag, is a year-long accumulation of points based on the group's bi-weekly tournament that are posted weekly on our website under Total Points and Standings. This part of the race runs from May to approximately mid-April of the next year, or six rounds before the next Sea Island Tournament.
At that point, the Pfing Ex Cup field is cut to the top ten point earners for the year who then compete against each other for six rounds, with the top points' earner for those six rounds being the winner of the coveted trophy and cup.
In every round of the PfingEx Cup playoff—for each of the six rounds—the top four finishers (out of the ten players competing for the Race) are awarded points. Most points over handicap gets four points per round; second, 3 points; third, 2; and fourth, 1 point.
Below are the standings after the fifth and final day of competition.

Scoring per round: most points above handicap (low man) is a first place worth 4 points, Second=3 points, Third=2 points, Fourth=1 point. Ties split the points.
